Theme Song

I don't think I've ever had a theme song before. Okay, that's not entirely true. I did have a boyfriend once who chose a theme song for us. Probably what put me off the idea ever since. LOL.

If you haven't already noticed, I've been going through a journey of self discovery and making peace with my past in the last 12 months or so. I have a way to go yet but I finally feel like the real me is starting to emerge.

This song has been going through my head this morning:

I'M GONNA FLY
(Amy Grant)

All of my friends are happy to stay
Here in this yard day after day
But something inside me has called me away
I don't understand
but I know I can't stay

I'm gonna fly
No one knows where
But I'm gonna fly
I'm lighter than air

Cause I have felt for the first time
I can be myself
No more faces to hide behind
Just a smile and a dream that's mine
Even if I am the only one who wants to fly

I'm gonna fly
No one knows where
But I'm gonna fly
I'll soar thru the air

All of my life seems I've waited
For the time to start
Being the person inside of me
Unafraid of being me
No more faces to hide behind
Just a smile and a dream that's mine
Even if I am the only one who wants to fly

If I had my life to live over again
I'd run barefoot, relax a bit more
And I'd talk to my childrenAnd I'd learn how they laugh
And I'd teach them how I've learned to fly

Cause all my life seems I've waited
For the time to start
Being this person inside of me
Unafraid of being me
Even if I am the only one who wants to fly
I'm gonna fly

I think at this point in my life it says enough about me that I would consider it my theme song. Perhaps not so much the first verse, but in particular these words:

"Cause I have felt for the first time
I can be myself
No more faces to hide behind
Just a smile and a dream that's mine
Even if I am the only one who wants to fly"

I used to have this song on a record of all things. LOL. Is that showing my age? But I no longer have the record or a record player for that matter. But I did manage to find the lyrics online.

What an amazing feeling to discover the "real" me. It feels so freeing. I'm looking forward to getting to know myself a little better. LOL.

What about you? Do you know who the "real" you is?

Wo JH! I have had one huge fortnight of finding myself again and not always sure i like it but at the same time I know I have to be true to myself and accept me for me. I dont have to fit into the mold others want for me, but need to be secure in my own skin, so to speak!

FYI, last night in the latest Koorong catalogue, there are many Amy Grant CD's being rereleased so you may find your favourite song in there somewhere. On their website you can sometimes find the title list for each CD too.

Am pleased you have also found a relaxing hobby in knitting. I desperately need to find something. I am sure my mum has coped with her struggles by knitting all these years. She now knits for missions etc and makes some colourful rugs which my boys adore to curl up in. They each have a bright summer weight blanket that i replace their winter quilts with.

Am meant to be resting today after a very stressful week. Found some dainty low smell(LOL) flowering plants to decorate my tables with for "Guess who is coming to dinner" on Sunday when i am expecting 5 extras. Am trying to remain positive in all this and keep the meal simple but tasty.

Jodi, you sound very happy in your post today. Wish I could find myself too - still working on it.

Just to let you know that I worked out how to disable the add-on that was causing your blog to close on me all the time. Actually am quite proud of myself for working throught it (I can hear all the technical people laughing their heads off, but for me its a big thing!)

So, I can now catch up on what I missed out on.

Cheers, Briget (SS)

Nice song - I haven't heard that Amy Grant song before I don't think. It sounds very apt for you.

LS - thanks for the heads up on the Koorong catalogue. We got ours today and I had a look and saw those CD's. Perfect timing(providential maybe?). I'll do some research to see if I can find out if *my* song is on one of them. Your "guess who's coming to dinner" sounds interesting. Hope you're feeling better.

Briget - I'm so pleased you worked it out. You should be proud of yourself. I do know how you feel when it comes to computer stuff. Thanks for letting me know you're back. :-) I am feeling really happy today. It's nice.

Ali - it can be hard work finding ourselves can't it. Keep at it - it's worth it. Glad you like the song. :-)

Kez - glad you like it. I went for a jog this morning and it just came into my head. I haven't heard it for years and years.

I like this song :) I think we might have had it on a record a long time ago too :) Or a tape... something like that! I bought one of Amy's cds with that on it and my daughter loves to listen to it.
Just got back from Spotlight with some wool to knit some Christmas decorations :)

Love,

Joy
