Actually that title isn't strictly correct. Cos Santa is in our front paddock relaxing with a drink! :) Yesterday was the Credit Union Christmas Pageant which heralds the arrival of Father Christmas in our state. Today Father Christmas arrived here (he usually arrives in our front paddock the day after the state's major Christmas Pageant).
This is our third year with Santa in our front paddock (and consequently our 3rd Christmas here in our own house - yippee!!!!). The first year he was seated up on an very old open cab tractor. Last year we put him in the old Fire Truck . This year he's reclining in a rather relaxed manner, surrounded by hay bales and merrily waving to passers by.
He's something of a community "legend" these days. LOL. The kids on the school bus have already been talking about whether the hay bales stacked in the front paddock have been set up ready for Santa. They've been there over a month now (I think) - since DH had some hay baled in that paddock. Hopefully they'll all enjoy seeing him set up there tomorrow.
Setting up Santa out the front has become quite a fun Christmas tradition in our family. I bought the suit from Cheap as Chips for $8.95 a few years ago and we made a paper mache head together. The poor old thing is just about ready to retire which is okay as I managed to find another suit this year (Spotlight this time for $9.95). The first time I've come across one since I bought the original so that'll be popped away in the cupboard next year.
I also picked up some solar powered bud lights this year so Santa is draped in 1 set of those and we've got the other set around our sign at the front (that says who lives here). It'll be interesting to see how well they work!!!!Well, the Christmas season has officially begun.... I'm soooooo excited!!!!! Might have to start wrapping presents soon..... :-) Ho....Ho....Ho.....!!!!!!

:) Thats so cool!
One of my fondestmemories growing up was the guy across the road, setting up his beautiful lights.
This is a bit different, buthopefully you'll inspire kids to remember crhistmas even whenthey move away!
Hope your christmas rocks :)
Love him!
Now would you all please STOP talking about Xmas already!!!
I'm with Kez! LALALALALA don't wanna know!
I Lurve your Santa!
I have spent all day researching our 'theme' for this year. It is doing my head in on how we are going to attach everything to the house without doing any damage or making marks......
Studentsaver - thank you. :) I hope it's something the kids will look back on fondly. We do a little bit of Christmas lights but living so far back from the road, it's not worth doing as much as we might if we lived in town.
Kez - ROFLOL. Now you do realise that song has the line "you'd better not pout" in it. ;-) It'll come whether you like it or not. LOL.
Kelley - ooh...ooh...I have an idea for a theme. How about CHRISTMAS????? ROFLOL. Seriously, you have a theme? We just have santa, christmas tree, nativity scene, some bud lights on the verandah, few tinselly things if I get organised enough. Research....no wonder you don't wanna know about Christmas.
oh my goodness. You researh themes Kelley?? no wonder you have trouble breathing when someone says "christmas" lol god luv ya!
Love the Santa Jodi! Last year ours was hanging off the tv aerial on top of our roof. He was wearing hubbys old worn out fire boots! The high school kids all had a giggle at him as they walked to and from school as he looked like he was drunk and about to keel over!lmao. Not sure where we'll put him this year.... we are a bit out of the way now. Oh and have you ever thought of making a snow man out of your white plastic shopping bags? hahaha!
How cool. A Santa in the front yard.
I want one.
I love your santa.....
You are a little early... but the spirit is upon us....
Kelly I thought that Christmas and Santa WAS the theme!!
Ahh, I love Christmas - but I just don't want to know this year. Maybe when we get back from our trip...
It's just too much to think about right now. Must. Focus. On. Study.
